• Richard Ramirez, 46, was shot to death in the parking lot of a truck stop east of Amarillo after an over-the-radio argument with another trucker. Wayne Broom, 64, allegedly got out of his truck and shot Ramirez as he sat in his truck.

  • Broom was arrested and arraigned in the case. He later gave a signed confession to police.
