Raymond Plasencio

Today marked the second day of testimony in a murder trial where the defendant is accused of stabbing the victim... Richard Preciado 87 times.

Today's witnesses in the trial against Raymond Plasencio included a Sergeant from the Amarillo police department and a forensic scientist who examined evidence in this case.

Some of the evidence collected at the scene included stray hairs found on the victim.
The scientist who analyzed it says it resembled hair from the defendant, but it did not provide the DNA needed to confirm that.

Associates of the defendant also testified today saying that they were at the home around the time of the murder, and that drug activity took place there.

Prosecutors say the February 2003 murder was the result of gang related drug trafficking.

The maximum sentence Placensio can recieve for murder is 99 years or life in prison.
Testimony in the case continues tomorrow.
