Amarillo police identified the two people people killed in a rollover crash while street racing. The victims are Bettye Annette Montano, 51 and her son, Allton Jagyr Montano, 21. AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police identified the two people people killed in a rollover crash while street racing.
The victims are Bettye Annette Montano, 51 and her son, Allton Jagyr Montano, 21.
The crash happened around Noon on Friday at the intersection of 34th Ave. and Lipscomb Street.
According to police, Bettye and Allton were passengers in a Dodge Durango that was racing a Ford Mustang.
Police said Bettye's husband, Paul, was driving the Durango.
The two vehicles were headed west on 34th Ave. when they made contact, causing both to roll.
The Durango hit a power pole.
Bettye and Allton Montano died at the scene.
Paul was charged with two counts of racing causing serious bodily injury or death.
The driver of the Mustang was a 16-year-old male. He was arrested and booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains for three counts of racing causing serious bodily injury/death.
The crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Unit.
