According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the suspect was identified as being 29-year-old Ryan John Kelley.
Kelley, who was also shot by law enforcement following a 5-hour standoff, remains in a hospital. His condition was unknown.
The injured officer was air lifted to an Amarillo hospital before being transferred to a Lubbock hospital. He was identified as Patrol Sergeant Houston Gass. His condition was last listed as being stable.
Tactical teams first introduced a chemical agent into the home before entering. Once the team entered, authorities said Kelley appeared to have something in his hand so they fired. He was shot in the leg at about 3 p.m., before being taken into custody.
