AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Amarillo Police Department's Special Crimes Unit is investigating a suspicious death that occurred Wednesday morning.

According to APD, officers were sent to the west alley of the 900 block of Arthur for a female that was found lying on the ground. The woman was identified as 28-year-old Latrece Latell Black and was pronounced dead.

Justice of the Peace Richard Herman ordered an autopsy be conducted on Thursday.

APD's Special Crimes Unit continues to investigate this incident and asks anyone that may have information about the case to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400.
