Hereford police arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with a deadly shooting. According to the Hereford Police Department, offices responded to a fight in progress about 4:30 p. m. Tuesday near 13th and Star streets. They learned two men were fighting and one of them had been shot. While responding to the initial location, police learned the shooting victim, Simon Tovar, Jr. , 20, had left the scene and was now in the 300 block of Ave. D.

HEREFORD, Texas (KVII) — Hereford police arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with a deadly shooting.

According to the Hereford Police Department, offices responded to a fight in progress about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday near 13th and Star streets.

They learned two men were fighting and one of them had been shot.

While responding to the initial location, police learned the shooting victim, Simon Tovar, Jr., 20, had left the scene and was now in the 300 block of Ave. D.

Hereford EMS and officers responded to Tovar's location where he died from his injuries.

Police identified Dayton Rodriguez, 17, as a suspect in the shooting.

Rodriguez was found in the 100 block of East Park Avenue and taken into custody, along with a juvenile male.

The shooting remains under investigation.
