A man was found dead in his Randall County home after a Thursday afternoon domestic call that turned into a standoff with deputies.
About 1:30 p.m., authorities received a phone call about an argument between a 70-year-old man and his wife at 2820 E. Farm to Market Road 1151, Deputy Danny Alexander said.
The man barricaded himself inside the house, but deputies were able to extricate the woman from the house through a bathroom window.
Alexander said the man was armed with a gun and made statements he may hurt himself.
Randall County Sheriff’s Hard Entry and Tactical Team worked to make contact with the man using a public address system. Texas Department of Public Safety’s helicopter team aided in the standoff.
About 4:45 p.m., the man was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities did not release the man’s name but said he had likely been dead for hours at that point.
He was found toward the rear of the property.
