Ex-Amarillo teacher admits to sexual assault of a child

A former Amarillo High School teacher must serve probation after pleading guilty to sexual assault of a child.

Martha Lynn Perry was 47 when she was indicted in December of 2004 after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Perry resigned from Amarillo High School that same month.

She had been a career and technology teacher.

A charge of indecency with a child was dropped as part of the plea agreement reached Friday.

Perry must serve eight and a-half years probation, pay a 500-dollar fine and register as a sex offender.

She's also barred from teaching.
