An early morning shooting on St. Patrick's Day left one woman seriously injured and the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. According to the Amarillo Police Department, at about 5 a. m. on March 17, officers were sent to the 800 block of S. Florida for a 32-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.


AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — An early morning shooting on St. Patrick's Day left one woman seriously injured and the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, at about 5 a.m. on March 17, officers were sent to the 800 block of S. Florida for a 32-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police determined the suspect in this case to be 36-year-old Keith Craig, who had left the scene before officers arrived.

After more than an hour, officers were sent to a residence in the 2300 block of SW 5th for a man laying in a yard that had been shot. Officers found Craig deceased at the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper body.
