Amarillo police looking for new leads in 1958 murder of hotel clerk

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Amarillo Police Department is looking for new leads in the 1958 murder of a hotel clerk

On January 9, 1958, Martin Dodson was found dead at the Lamar Hotel, located at 709 N. Pierce, where he worked.

Police said Dodson was attacked while working at the hotel's front counter. He was then dragged to a back room,

According to a report in the Amarillo Daily News, police believe the killer wrapped Dodson's keychain around his neck and strangled him.

The cash drawer was pried open, and the killer stole $62.17.

The case has remained unsolved "due to a lack of witnesses and evidence."

"We believe someone out there may know something," said APD. "No detail is too small — your information could bring justice and closure to Martin Dodson’s family."
