AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Special Crimes Unit is investigating after a body was discovered in Northeast Amarillo Sunday evening.

The Amarillo Police Deparment said officers were sent to the west alley of the 800 block of N. Roosevelt around 5:45 p.m. on a person who was unconscious and not breathing.

Medical personnel determined the person, later identified as 51-year-old Albert Phillip Pacheco, Jr. was dead.

Special Crimes began an investigation but the cause of death could not be determined.

Justice of the Peace Thomas Jones ordered an autopsy, which revealed the case is a homicide.

No arrests have been made and the Special Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation.
