***UPDATE*** 11-25-14 –

Special Crimes Investigators spoke to witnesses in the residence at the time of this murder.  The witnesses identified a suspect named Jose Miguel Hernandez, age 21.  A Potter County Murder Warrant was signed for the arrest of Jose Hernandez and he is currently at large.  Hernandez reportedly does not have access to a vehicle and officers continue to search the Amarillo area for his whereabouts.

On Sunday, November 23, 2014, at approximately 8:58pm, Amarillo Police officers were dispatched to 1621 N. Garfield in reference to a male that had been stabbed inside of the residence.  Officers arrived and found a male victim that had been stabbed in the head.  Several witnesses were located inside of the residence and have been interviewed by investigators.  The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim and fled the scene on foot.  Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital.  Despite medical intervention, the victim later died at the hospital.  The suspect is unidentified at this time.

The homicide victim was identified as Sal Ramirez, HM, age 23.  An autopsy is pending.
