Mark Edward Hanson

A Randall County grand jury indicted Hanson on Jan. 25, 2006, after he was charged with attacking a corrections officer at the Randall County Jail in 2005.

The grand jury handed up an indictment against Hanson for aggravated assault against a public servant for attacking Officer James Alex Dachille with a shank Oct. 15, 2005, according to court records.

Hanson was arrested by police on Jan. 18, 2005, in north Amarillo on a charge of murder.

He was charged with capital murder in connection with the death of 28-year-old Donald Ray White. His body was found Jan. 7, 2005, in a ditch in rural Randall County.

Hanson also faces an escape charge after he fled from the Randall County Jail on Oct. 28, 2005. Deputies caught him about 12 hours later. Amarillo Globe-News
