18-year-old arrested after 2 injured in overnight shooting

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — One man is in jail after two people were injured in a shooting on S. Polk Street early Monday morning.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, at about 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the 2100 block of S. Polk for a person who had been shot.

An 18-year-old male victim told police the shooting occurred at an event center in the 2200 block of Canyon Drive. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries not threatening his life.

Multiple vehicles, the building and a house behind the event center were all hit by bullets.

While investigating the scene, officers also discovered that a 19-year-old woman had also been shot and had been taken by private vehicle to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Detectives arrested 18-year-old Chad Daveigh Lewis for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked him into the Potter County Detention Center.

Amarillo police are continuing their investigation into the shooting.
