Tax Office Employees Sentenced in Embezzlement Scheme
Two former employees of the Potter County tax office are sentenced this afternoon in connection with the Danny Messer case.
Messer, who is Potter County's former Tax Assessor Collector, is accused of embezzling more than $340,000 while in office.
Messer's trial was delayed indefinitely after he suffered a stroke back in May of 2004.
Despite that, progress has been made in the case... today, 35 year old Marian Sue Kennedy and 50 year old Sharon Howery pleaded guilty to a charge of theft by a public servant.
Both were sentenced to 3 years deferred adjudication and ordered to pay $750. in fines.
Kennedy and Howery also agreed to cooperate with the courts in all matters regarding Danny Messer and the Potter County tax office.
