Borger police Man runs from traffic stop then admits to meth possession when caught
BORGER, Texas (KVII) — Two men were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop led to a methamphetamine bust.
Borger police said officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near 9th and Dixon Street for a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Xavier Cunningham, got out of the vehicle and ran.
Officers pursued him and arrested Cunningham for evading arrest or detention.
Police were able to identify the male passenger as Christopher Istre.
During the investigation, Cunningham told police there was a large amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle, which officers found.
The meth weighed out at 1.008 pounds.
Cunningham was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance greater than 400 grams.
Istre was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance greater than 400 grams.
Both men were booked into the Hutchinson County Jail.
The Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
