Web-posted Monday, October 6, 2008

A man who escaped from custody at the Potter County Detention Center on Saturday afternoon remained at large Sunday.

Joshua Duane Barnes, 20, slipped away from the jail at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and deputies Sunday continued to follow leads in hopes of tracking him down.

"He is still at large," Potter County Sheriff's Cpl. Cory Ezzell said.

Barnes is facing a 20-year prison term on five Randall County charges. He was being held at the Potter County Jail on an escape charge and two charges of burglary of a habitation.

Barnes is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 175 pounds, has short blondish-brown hair, a light mustache and a goatee. He also has a tattoo on his left ankle that says "Jail," and a tribal-design tattoo on his left chest.

Information about Barnes may be telephoned to the Sheriff's Department at 806-379-2900.
