Flora Emily Whitfield, 71 and Henry H Whitfield, 71 were found shot dead February 20 inside their home at 3919 NE 33rd Ave. Their son James Whitfield, 46 was found in the front yard with one gunshot wound to the head and a pistol nearby.

Flora and Henry Whitfield were shot multiple times. Family members were skeptical James Whitfield could have shot his parents, then killed himself. However, officials ruled two months later that the evidence including powder burns on James Whitfield's hands, indicated he fired the gun.
