Amarillo Man gets life in toddler's scalding death

AMARILLO, TX Mario Lee Torres pleaded guilty to injury to a child and was sentenced Monday in Randall County District Court.

Twenty-month-old Jayda Capri Ash died in May 2007 of the injuries she suffered when she was placed in a tub of hot water.

The Amarillo Globe-News reported in its online edition Monday that court records showed Jayda's mother, Joni Robison, and Torres married in August, a year and a half after the girl's death.
