AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A 17-year-old was arrested and Amarillo police are investigating after at least one person, two homes and a vehicle were shot Wednesday night.
The suspect who was arrested was identified as Bobby Duray Holman. Police said the person who was shot was a 21-year-old man.
According to police, officers were called to the 4900- block of Yale Street around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday on several shots heard in the area.
While officers were speaking to witnesses in the area, they heard several more gunshots were heard. APD said officers searched the area but did not find any suspects or victims of the shooting. However, officers did find several shell casings in the 4900- block of Yale Street and a blue 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo had been struck by bullets. A home in the same block had also been struck by bullets.
APD said officers later found that a home in the 5700- block of Purdue Street had also been struck by bullets.
Witnesses told officers they heard an argument in the street just before the gun shots rang out and four or five vehicles left the area at a high rate of speed. Police said the only vehicle description given to officers was possibly a truck, a dark-colored passenger car, a red passenger car and an unknown color Jeep that had left the scene.
Just before midnight, a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body and one to his right leg, showed up at the hospital. Police said he had been involved in the shooting that happened on Yale Street but could not give officers a description of the suspects.
After midnight, police said an officer stopped a black Dodge Challenger in the area of Amarillo Boulevard and North Polk Street. APD said officers had information the vehicle had been involved with the shootings in both locations. Holman was identified as the driver of the vehicle.
According to APD, officers found three handguns in the vehicle and Holman was arrested for traffic offenses. There were three other passengers in the vehicle but all three were released. Holman was booked into the Randall County Jail.
Police said they have not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting and the investigation in ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the APD or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806)374-4400.
