Amarillo police Saturday arrested two men in connection with the shooting death of an Amarillo teen outside a city bar.

Amarillo police allege 22-year-old Patrick Baca gunned down Guadalupe Olivarez Jr., 19, of Amarillo, after a fight erupted in the parking lot of Liquids Bar, 1013 S.W. 10th Ave.

Baca has been charged with murder and was being held in the Potter County Detention Center. A second suspect, Mark Baca, 19, was also arrested and charged with deadly conduct for allegedly firing a handgun in public.

Saturday's shooting marked the 12th homicide in the Amarillo area this year, including two fatal officer-involved shootings. It was the third homicide outside an Amarillo bar.

Police said the fight broke out about 2 a.m. and involved several suspects. During the fight, police allege Patrick Baca shot Olivarez once in his upper body.

Police said numerous shell casings littered the parking lot from two different caliber weapons. The windows of several nearby vehicles were shot out during the incident.

When police arrived, they learned that onlookers had rushed Olivarez into a vehicle and were heading to Northwest Texas Hospital. An emergency department physician pronounced Olivarez dead, police said.

A justice of the peace ordered an autopsy be performed Tuesday on Olivarez's body.

Police interviewed witnesses who identified Patrick Baca as the man who allegedly shot Olivarez.

Officers located Patrick Baca at an address in East Amarillo, brought him to the Potter-Randall Special Crimes Unit and interviewed him. Police also arrested Mark Baca for allegedly firing a handgun during the incident.

Saturday's shooting is the second fatal shooting at a Amarillo bar in less than a month.

On Aug. 9, investigators allege Jose Alberto Sanudo-Perez, 33, fatally shot Jeremy Lawrence Haywood, 26, outside the Los Dos Compadres bar, at 5410 E. Amarillo Blvd. Authorities believe Sanudo-Perez fled to Mexico shortly after the shooting. Investigators have not released a motive for the shooting.

In late March, police allege Jeremy David Barrington struck David Glen Cates, 36, with his hand, causing him to fall and strike his head on the pavement outside Boscos Lounge, 2307 S.W. Sixth Ave. Cates was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital, where he remained unconscious for nearly two weeks before he died.

Cates was arrested in June and charged with criminally negligent homicide.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Special Crimes Unit at 806-378-9468.
