On May 1 at 10 p.m., 22-year-old Daniel Martinez died in Potter County Detention Center.According to Potter County Sheriff's Office News Release, The on call Potter County Justice of the Peace ordered an autopsy that is scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2018.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — On May 1 at 10 p.m., 22-year-old Daniel Martinez died in Potter County Detention Center.

According to Potter County Sheriff's Office News Release, "The on call Potter County Justice of the Peace ordered an autopsy that is scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2018."

At this time, the cause of death has not been released and will be determined at the receipt of the final autopsy report.

The Texas Rangers are investigating as they do in all custody deaths.

Summary:
On May 1, 2018, at approximately 10:32 PM, inmate Martinez, Daniel Luis DOB 12/19/1995, was found
hanging from the metal partition in his cell by a bed sheet tied around his neck. Inmate was removed and
emergency care/CPR was administered until the ambulance arrived at approximately 10:50 PM. CPR
continued until Amarillo Medical Service Crew, Hoffman EMT-P called to stop at 10:59 PM.
