AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — UPDATE: Tuesday, 9:11 a.m.

A Potter County grand jury has indicted Jody Joe Lewis on a charge of murder in connection with the death of Dwight Jermaine Terry.

Terry was shot to death Sunday, Feb. 24, at Club Vibe, 5600 E. Amarillo Blvd.

The Potter County indictment was filed May 22, 2019.

UPDATE: Tuesday, 6:04 p.m.

Amarillo Police say that Jody Joe Lewis, the suspect in a homicide that occurred Sunday morning, has turned himself in to authorities.

Lewis has been booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a murder warrant.

The Amarillo Police Department Special Crimes Unit is investigating an early morning homicide in north Amarillo.

Officers were called to Club Vibe at 5600 Amarillo Boulevard East in reference to a shooting around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The shooting victim, identified as 19-year-old Dwight Terry, was transported to a local hospital and later died from his injuries. Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn ordered an autopsy, which will be performed Tuesday, Feb. 26 in Lubbock.

The suspect in the case is not in custody. Investigators of the Special Crimes Unit obtained a murder warrant for Jody Joe Lewis, a 22-year-old black male. Lewis is considered armed and dangerous.
