The man convicted of murder Tuesday in a Potter County courtroom was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Judge Don Emerson, of the 320th District Court, on Wednesday sentenced Paul Jimenez, 47, in the 1990 shooting of Clarence Smith outside the Western Lounge, 2905 E. Amarillo Blvd., said 47th District attorney Randall Sims in a news release.
A Potter County jury found Jimenez guilty of the crime late Tuesday afternoon.
During the punishment stage of the trial on Wednesday morning, Jimenez insisted he was not guilty of the offense and that he knew who did do it, Sims said.
Jimenez told the court he did not disclose that information because no one would agree to cut time off of the felony sentence he is currently serving, Sims said.
