AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Texas Department of Public Safety said a canine alerted on some luggage at an Amarillo bus station leading to the seizure of more than 48 pounds of methamphetamine.

According to officials, on Tuesday at about 3:20 p.m., a DPS Trooper and his canine partner were screening the baggage area of a bus that just arrived at the station, when the canine alerted on a suitcase.

The trooper then found six large plastic-wrapped bundles of methamphetamine inside.

DPS said the bus originated from Los Angeles, Calif. and made several stops before reaching Amarillo.

A suspect has not been found at this time.
