Duo arrested after police find meth, gun, counterfeit bills during traffic stop

Amarillo police arrested two people after an early Tuesday morning traffic stop.
According to police, an officer stopped a 2000 Toyota Avalon for a traffic violation in the 400- block of North Prospect around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police said both the driver, 19-year-old Tristin Riojas, and the passenger, 37-year-old Diana Hugg, got out of the car when they stopped. Both of them walked away from the car and went towards a house. The officer was able to detain both subjects.
APD said Riojas was found to have a probation violation warrant for Burglary of a Habitation out of Randall County. So he was arrested.
When officers searched the vehicle, they found a pistol, a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. APD said the pistol that was found found had been stolen in a residential burglary in the 2800- block of South Hayden Street that was reported on February 28.
Police said Hugg was found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine, two counterfeit twenty dollar bills and identifying information that did not belong to her or Riojas. She was arrested as well.
According to APD, Riojas was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Theft of a Firearm, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Driver's License, Fail to Signal no less than 100 feet before a turn and the warrant.
APD said Hugg was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information and Forgery of a Financial Instrument.
Both Hugg and Riojas were booked into the Potter County jail.
