Around 8:14 p. m. on Aug. 23, police were called to a reported shooting at an apartment complex near the 4200 block of Southwest 51st Street. When they got to the complex, police said they found 44-year-old Winton Wayne Dalton, who they say matched a description of the shooting suspect.
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A man is dead and another is in jail after a shooting report to police dispatchers Sunday night led to Amarillo police finding a victim.
Around 8:14 p.m. on Aug. 23, police were called to a reported shooting at an apartment complex near the 4200 block of Southwest 51st Street.
When they got to the complex, police said they found 44-year-old Winton Wayne Dalton, who they say matched a description of the shooting suspect.
No people were injured at the apartment complex, but police said that investigation led to the discovery of a body in the same area of Amarillo.
The body of 28-year-old Thomas Bernard Grensberg was found at a home near the 5000 block of Southwest 57th Avenue.
Officers said they interviewed witnesses at both scenes, but the department's homicide unit is still investigating.
Dalton was booked into the Randall County Jail for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
It is unsure if he has been linked with the death of Grensberg by police, but APD said further charges are pending.
