Police said a man walking his dog found Booker's body shortly before noon in a weed-covered area of a parking lot about 100 yards south of Buckle's Lounge.

Police did not know how long the body had been in that location. Witnesses told police the woman stayed at a nearby hotel, and she was last seen alive January 12.

Early autopsy results show Booker died after being assaulted with a sharp object.


APD officers were dispatched on a female found in the field behind Buckles Lounge at 6800 E Interstate 40. Crystal Booker’s body was discovered on the cold morning of Friday January 18, 2008 shortly before noon. Due to the suspicious nature of the location of her body and the injuries she received, it was quickly ruled as a Homicide. This May, Crystal would have turned 22 year of age.

APD Special Crimes Unit worked diligently investigating this case, which was the first reported Homicide of 2008. The case of Crystal Booker’s death has yet to be closed. The Special Crimes Unit wants to find her killer. There have been numerous suspicions and leads to the case, unfortunately none of the leads so far have resolved clearing the case.

The 2 years passing of her death is a reminder that this seemingly “Cold Case” still needs to be and can be solved. We would like to remind the community that Amarillo Crime Stoppers provides several methods for those with information about Crystal’s death, to be remain anonymous.
