APD investigates armed robberies | KVII

Amarillo Police Department is investigating two armed robberies that occurred earlier today.


Wed, 29 May 2013 20:13:20 GMT — UPDATE: John Martin Vasquez also known as John Martin Riley, 23, was one of the suspects brought in for questioning by APD. He was identified as the suspect involved in the robbery at Wal-Mart and the robbery in the 2500 block of west 10th. Vasquez was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail. APD is still working to determine if this suspect is connected to the robbery in the 3200 block of southwest 4th.

A marillo Police Department is investigating two armed robberies that occurred earlier today.

According to APD, officers responded to the first robbery call at a residence in the 3200 block of west 4th at approximately 11:12 a.m. A male victim was in his yard when he was approached by the male suspect. The suspect asked for money, when the victim refused the suspect lifted his shirt and showed the victim a weapon. The victim handed over his wallet and the robber left the scene on foot.

The second call officers received was at approximately 11:50 a.m. At this time APD officers responded to the Family Dollar in the 2500 block of west 10th. According to police the suspect involved in the incident tried to use a debit card to make a purchase. The card declined and the suspect left the store. The suspect then approached two women who were sitting in a parked in a car in the parking lot. The suspect asked for one woman's purse, when she refused the man revealed a gun and took both women's handbags. Police say the suspect was last seen walking north on Bryan Street.

The suspect in all of these robberies was a white male in his 30s with blonde hair. He was wearing a blue sleeveless shirt.

In the first robbery the suspect was wearing a black baseball cap and was seen walking in the area before the robbery with a white female.

In the second robbery police were told by one of the witnesses that the suspect had multiple facial tattoos.

There were no injuries reported and APD officers are asking anyone with information on these incidents to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
