Homicide detectives are looking for a suspect I the stabbing death of a man found Saturday in a northeast Amarillo alley.

A murder warrant was issued late Tuesday for Osvaldo Cadena Gallardo, 21, a Mexican national. Lt. Ed Smith of the Potter-Randall Special Crimes Unit said Gallardo had not been in Amarillo very long.

No arrest and been made late Wednesday.

Gallardo is wanted in the death of Refugio Palacios, 27, a Mexican national who had been in the United States for two years.

"We might as well get his name out there," Smiths aid. We're looking for him and we don't even know if he's in the country.

"Since he's a Mexican national, let's put it this wa, I'd be surprised if someone called and said 'I know him and I know where he is.' Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if they did, but I'd be surprised."

Palacio's body was found about 4:30 pm Saturday in the backseat of a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am parked in the alley between the 1600 blocks of North Apache and North Fairfield streets.

Court documents indicate that Palacios was stabbed in the abdomen Friday night at 1410-B Dunaway street and his body taken to the alley where it was found the next day by three neighborhood children.

Gallardo is described as standing 6foot 1 inch and weighing 130 pounds.
