Amarillo fire crews had an early start on Monday after a home burned near the entrance to downtown. Amarillo Fire Department said they responded to the 1200 block of S Buchanan around 3:11 a. m. on the reported house fire. AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo fire crews had an early start on Monday after a home burned near the entrance to downtown.
Amarillo Fire Department said they responded to the 1200 block of S Buchanan around 3:11 a.m. on the reported house fire.
They found smoke and flames coming from the roof of an apparently abandoned home when they got to the area.
Crews said they fought the fire defensively, focusing on protecting other nearby homes from flames and smoke.
After a nearly three-hour battle, crews said they contained the fire around 5:57 a.m.
Nobody was inside the home when it went up in flames, and there were no injuries.
The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
