Fri, 23 May 2014 12:36:32 GMT — The Amarillo Police Department is currently investigating a suspected meth lab that was discovered in a home on 10th and NW Hayden St. Thursday night.

According to Pronews 7 scanners, officers were dispatched to the home on a welfare check around 10 PM. Instead, they found what they suspected were hazardous materials and what responding officers thought may be a meth lab inside.

Both streets were closed and nearby residents were evacuated as officers called the Narcotics Unit, a HAZMAT team, the Fire Department, and an ambulance to the scene. Both streets were reopened at 11:30 PM.
