An Amarillo man was sentenced Thursday morning to eight years' probation after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2010 fatal shooting death of his brother, his attorney said.
Prosecutors dropped a murder charge against Gabriel Olmos-Serna, 43.
His trial had been scheduled to start in the 108th District Court in April, defense attorney Adam Tisdell said.
Under the plea deal, Olmos-Serna pleaded guilty to the manslaughter charge.
Olmos-Serna was charged in the shooting death of his 29-year-old brother Guadalupe Olmos on Nov. 5, 2010, in the parking lot of DeBruce Grain, 620 N. Marrs St.
A Potter County grand jury in April indicted Olmos-Serna on the murder charge, court records show.
The first-degree felony carries a sentence range of five to 99 years in prison.
