Amarillo police investigating 'suspicious death' near downtown

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police are investigating a "suspicious death" near downtown.

Around 1:30 p.m., police were called to a home in the 700 block of S. Jefferson Street.

When they arrived, officers found a juvenile male dead from a gunshot wound.

The victim's body was in a car.

ABC 7 saw multiple shell casings on the ground.

Police detained multiple juveniles for questioning. They are also talking to multiple witnesses.

The Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating.
