Canyon police are investigating after a crash early Sunday left one teen dead and another badly hurt. Authorities said 19-year-old Trent Wood was driving a truck with 16-year-old Clayton Anderson as his passenger. Near the 24000 block of U. S. 87, the truck left the road and hit a tree near the 2nd Roadside Park in Canyon. Anderson died at the scene, while Wood was taken to the hospital with what police called "life-threatening" injuries.

CANYON, Texas (KVII) — Canyon police are investigating after a crash early Sunday left one teen dead and another badly hurt.

Authorities said 19-year-old Trent Wood was driving a truck with 16-year-old Clayton Anderson as his passenger.

Near the 24000 block of U.S. 87, the truck left the road and hit a tree near the 2nd Roadside Park in Canyon.

Anderson died at the scene, while Wood was taken to the hospital with what police called "life-threatening" injuries.

Canyon police are still looking into the cause of the crash.
