A Potter County grand jury has indicted two people on murder and aggravated robbery charges in the July 3 death of Ricky Glen Provence, 51, of Amarillo, 47th District Attorney Randall Sims said Thursday.
Prosecutors on Wednesday also dismissed a murder charge against a third man pending further investigation.
Leslee Anne Wiseman, 23, and Laney Paul Brewer, 23, intentionally caused Provence’s death by striking him with an unidentified object and/or strangled him, the indictments said.
Relatives found Provence’s body July 5 after they forced their way inside his apartment at 1508 S. Jefferson St. Amarillo police officers called to the scene discovered conditions in the apartment that led them to think Provence died under suspicious circumstances.
Police on July 9 arrested Wiseman and Brewer, also known as Laney Paul Chambers, and charged them with murder in the case.
Police on July 15 arrested and charged a third person with murder in Provence’s death.
The case against Bryan Craig Childs, 23, was dismissed pending the continuing investigation, Sims said.
Brewer is being held in the Potter County Detention Center on $607,500 bond. Wiseman is being held at Potter County on $500,000 bond.
If convicted of murder, Wiseman and Brewer each face five to 99 years in prison, or a life sentence.
