Wed, 18 Mar 2009 22:51:21 GMT — Former Tascosa teacher David Brown will spend his remaining sentence in prison.
Brown had told the court that he was not mentally competent when he entered a guilty plea in November of 2003. Brown pleaded guilty to four charges of of inappropriate sexual contact with a minor. Brown was given ten years probation but was arrested months later for breaking the conditions of the probation. Brown was then sentenced to 40 years in prison.
He recently told the court that his legal counsel failed to determine if he was competent enough to enter guilty plea. Since that claim has now been dropped, Randall County District Attorney James Farren says that he will spend the remainder of his term in jail.
