AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Crystal Wagner was home with her kids when shots were fired at the house across the street.

"When I heard the first gun fire I thought maybe it was firecrackers so I looked outside and I saw some dude with a white t-shirt and blue jeans and a black hat get out of a white car," said Wagner. "And the second shot hit the dirt like a foot in front of the dog in the front yard and that is when I hit the ground."

Wagner's children were in the other room playing video games. Fortunately they didn't hear what was happening right outside their door.

"There were two guys and there were two discernable gun fires and 6-8 shots. I didn't really count, I was more worried about the kids running in and yelling, 'what's that?!'"

Amarillo Police responded to the shooting just before noon. That's when they found 42-year-old, Rene Soto. He was taken to the hospital where he later died of sustained injuries.

Wagner told ABC 7 News, while it's upsetting someone died, this isn't the first time police have been on her street.

"There's constant gun fire once or twice a month. It's mostly in the house, but this is the first time it was caddy corner to the house and someone to die from it."

Unfortunately, she said keeping an eye out has become a way of life.

"It's bad because of the gun fire, other than it being Father's day it's just another day of the month. It happens all the time. I guess duck and cover is all I can think of."

Police are now looking for multiple suspects they believe may be involved.
