2000-02-01 DeMaree
James Martin DeMaree was arrested in connection with the December 1979 stabbing death of 58 year old Roy Landen Hammitt. The 20-year-old case broke in 1998 when Sgt. Mike Crandall matched a fingerprint lifted from a lamp in Hammitt's house with DeMaree's prints through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
DeMaree was arrested Jan. 5 by Wichita Falls deputies as doctors released him from Wichita Falls State Hospital.
