A 42-year-old Wellington man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after he pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge in an altercation that led to the death of another Wellington man, 100th District Attorney Luke Inman said.

A Collingsworth County grand jury in June indicted Jose Luis Granados on a murder charge in the death of Frank Hernandez, Inman said.

The men were involved in a fight inside a vehicle Jan. 22, Inman said. Hernandez was hospitalized, and underwent multiple surgeries before he died March 2, Inman said.

Hernandez died of blunt-force trauma to the torso, Inman said. The plea occurred Nov. 7.
