AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police have ruled the death of a 10-week-old at the Walmart on I-27 and S. Georgia St. as a homicide.

According to police, officers were called to the Walmart parking lot around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2. When officers arrived on the scene they found the baby was not breathing.

After first responders arrived on the scene, the baby was pronounced dead.

APD Special Crimes was called to investigate the case and Justice of the Peace Clay Houdashell ordered an autopsy and it was performed in Lubbock on Feb. 2.

According to police, preliminary autopsy results revealed the baby died from blunt force trauma to the head.

19-year-old Briana Leone Riley was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail for the Murder of the 10-week-old.
