Hindman

Houng Rowlette, 63, was working alone at the B & B Convenience Store on E. 10th. At approximately 6:00 pm a customer entered the store and found Ms. Rowlette behind the counter stabbed numerous times. Ms. Rowlette was taken to NWTH where she died from her injuries.

The initial investigation indicated that Ms. Rowlette was stabbed during a robbery of the store. Over the period of 10 days Special Crimes worked on this case interviewing witnesses and having a composite drawing done of the suspect.

On April 9, 2007 fingerprints developed from a crucial piece of evidence recovered on the day this occurred was identified as belonging to Dewayne Paul Hindman, 19, of Amarillo.

Hindman was located on April 9, 2007 and a warrant charging Hindman with Capital Murder was obtained from the Potter County District Attorney’s office that same day.
