AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A man is charged with selling the fentanyl that police said killed another man in September.

Ryan Conrad Baldauf, 32, is charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance causing death or serious bodily injury.

On Sept. 6, police responded to the overdose of a 31-year-old man. Officers recognized items at the scene as being related to fentanyl use.

Narcotic agents responded and investigated the suspected fentanyl overdose.

That investigation led to Baldauf being identified as a person of interest.

The case was forwarded to the Randall County District Attorney's Office for review. The DA's office filed charged earlier this month.

Baldauf was arrested Dec. 12.

"Fentanyl is an extraordinarily dangerous drug, and people in Amarillo are dying because of it." police said.

Anyone who has information on someone possibly dealing fentanyl is asked to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400 or online at amapolice.org or the P3 Tips app.
