AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police identified the man they said led them on a chase after forcing a screaming woman into a car on Monday.
Joseph Tyler Putch, 29, is charged with aggravated kidnapping with bodily injury, evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and two municipal warrants.
Just before 9 a.m. Monday, Amarillo police officers were called to the area of Bell Street and Gainsborough Road.
Witnesses said a man forced a screaming female into a silver Hyundai.
Police located the car and tried to make a traffic stop.
Putch refused to stop and led police on a chase.
At one point, the chase passed the ABC 7 studios.

Police used spike strips to stop the car at Amarillo Blvd. and Rusk Street.
Putch got out and ran, but was taken into custody just before 9:30 a.m.
ABC 7 saw police pull at least five guns, a sword and a machete out of the car.
Police said the victim is safe.
On Tuesday, they called it a domestic violence incident.
