Michael Dick was arrested at the probation office for a probation violation on July 9,2008. He was being
arrested by a Potter Co Deputy and while being handcuffed he grabbed the officer's tazer and pointed at him. He asked officer to shoot him. Michael then fired taser at a probation officer and a fight ensued with suspect and officer and probation officers. After his arrest he was taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries.

He was later booked into the Potter Co Jail. He was in an isolation cell. Inmate did have a history of mental
illness and had seizures while in jail. He was restrained on July 14,2008 by guards after inmate was hitting walls and injuring himself. He was restrained by guards and shot with a taser. He was placed in a restraint chair for several hours to keep him from harming himself. He was later placed back in his isolation cell. On July 19,2008 guards found inmate unconscious and they attempted to revive him and he was later pronounced dead.

Inmate had numerous bruises which were sustained from the arrest on July 9, and the incident on July 14th. He also may have injured himself when hitting the walls and door of his cell. An autopsy was performed in Lubbock on July 21st.

Preliminary report shows he died as a result of peritonitis due to a duodenal ulcer. A second autopsy was done at request of the family and the second autopsy is pending.
