Three people from Amarillo have been charged for their alleged involvement in a local counterfeit ring, police said.
Two men, Christopher David Cano, 29, and Erich Jason Council, 37, and one woman, Jaclyn Kay Jones, 27, were arrested in three incidents of alleged forgery in December, said Amarillo police Cpl. Jerry Neufeld. Each has been charged with forgery, a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, he said.
The first two occurrences happened Dec. 8 and the third Dec. 28, Neufeld said.
Cano remained in the Potter County jail Thursday on a total of $10,000 bond, $5,000 for each of two counts of forgery, jail officials said. Jones was moved to the Randall County jail and remained there Thursday on $10,000 bond, authorities said.
Council remained in the Hemphill County jail Thursday on $5,000 bond.
The U.S. Secret Service is assisting the investigation, Neufeld said.
