3 arrested after authorities seize $7k worth of suspected fentanyl pills

MOORE COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — About $7,000 worth of pills believed to be fentanyl was seized during a traffic stop conducted by Moore County Sheriff's deputies on Thursday night.

According to the Moore County Sheriff's Office, at about 11:45 p.m., deputies initiated a traffic stop on a 2007 tan Cadillac Escalade for a traffic violation.

The Dumas Police Department later arrived to assist with the traffic stop.

Officials said the vehicle's occupants showed several indications of criminal activity during the investigation. This caused law enforcement to request a K9 for an open-air search of the vehicle.

A Texas Department of Public Safety K9 was brought to the scene and alerted on the vehicle.

After probable cause was obtained to search the vehicle, a further search revealed 1,000 pills suspected to be fentanyl valued at $7,000 and two firearms inside the vehicle.

Due to the amount of fentanyl in the vehicle, the Homeland Security Investigations-Amarillo Field Office was contacted to assist with the investigation.

All three occupants in the vehicle were taken into custody and will face federal charges.
