AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Update 1:48 p.m. Nov. 27: Billey Joe Woelfle has been indicted on a charge of murder, according to grand jury documents from the Potter County clerk.

Officials have now ruled that an Aug. 15 suspicious death is a homicide, and a murder warrant has been issued, according to a news release from the Amarillo Police Department.
A murder warrant has been issued for Billey Joe Woelfle, 21, in the death of Zachary David Cordova, 30. Woelfle is currently incarcerated in the Lubbock County Jail, and the warrant was served there.
According to the APD news release:

At 8:43 p.m. Aug 15, APD officers received a call that a man had been shot at the Amarillo Value Inn, 3205 E. Interstate 40.

Officers found a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was identified as Cordova.

The APD Special Crimes Unit began the investigation as a suspicious death.
