AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A teenage boy and a man are both behind bars after shots were fired at a house party in Amarillo earlier this month.

Amarillo police said they have arrested 17-year-old Montreveous Peterson and a 16-year-old boy on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Those charges stem from a June 10 incident near the 5700 block of Canyon Drive.

Police were called to an apartment complex there around 12:23 a.m. on a report that shots had been fired.

Two people believed to have injuries suffered at the party were being taken to the hospital at the same time.

When officers got to the complex, they found a party in progress.

After trying to coax the partygoers out, officers with the city SWAT team were called to the scene, at which point the occupants started leaving the apartment.

Police said they also found several weapons inside.

Peterson is in the Potter County jail, while the other teen is in the Youth Center of the High Plains.

The investigation is ongoing.
