Family and friends identified one of the two people found dead Saturday in Castro County. Adilene Adame, 27, from Friona, and a 37-year-old Dimmit man were found dead around 10:15 a. m. Saturday near FM 1057 and FM 2397. The Castro County Sheriff's Office called the deaths suspicious. The Texas Rangers are investigating. Adame was a special education teacher and cheer coach at Friona High School. Friona ISD released the following statement about her death.


AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Family and friends identified one of the two people found dead Saturday in Castro County.

Adilene Adame, 27, from Friona, and a 37-year-old Dimmit man were found dead around 10:15 a.m. Saturday near FM 1057 and FM 2397.

The Castro County Sheriff's Office called the deaths suspicious.

The Texas Rangers are investigating.

Adame was a special education teacher and cheer coach at Friona High School.

Friona ISD released the following statement about her death.

"With a heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you that Coach Adame passed away. She was a true leader for Friona ISD the past 2 years and daughter of the Friona community most of her life. She was full of love for her students and her Coaching/Teacher family. Coach Adame exemplified what it is to be a Chieftain/Squaw. She will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."

Adame was previously a throwers coach at Eastern New Mexico University where she went to school.

Louis Bolander, who was on the track team at ENMU when Adame was a coach, said the other victim was her boyfriend.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
